Stop whatever you’re doing right now and look around. Notice the life that is blooming around you, regardless of what you’re going through. Look at it with loving eyes, even if they’re full of tears. Now write down whatever comes to mind – you might surprise yourself. Let it happen.
When she’s not busy putting the Barcelona Journaling Festival together, Marusha is writing, reading, noticing things, and probably filling another notebook.
A former travel columnist for Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia, she is the author of Not Just A Mom, a self-help/autofiction book, and Naked Words, a guided journaling journey for anyone who wants to write, notice, explore and understand themselves a little better. She is also the founder of Girls Who Write, a platform supporting women of all ages and life paths in their writing adventures.
Marusha believes writing becomes truly transformative when we stop trying to sound clever, impressive, or “good” – and stop secretly wondering whether what we’re writing could one day become a book, a post, or something else useful. When we let go of all that, something much more interesting can happen: we can start telling the unedited truth.
That’s also at the heart of the Barcelona Journaling Festival: creating a space where writing is not about being a writer, but about being curious, honest, playful and a little more alive.

Dating today can feel like an emotional maze – exciting, intoxicating and deeply confusing all at once. New terms (for issues that are, in many ways, older than the world), new rules, new behavioural patterns: how easy is it for you to navigate the world of situationships, breadcrumbing, love bombing, ENM and ghosting? And how hard is it, somewhere between reading the signals and managing expectations, not to lose yourself – and your clear sense of what YOU really want in love?
This journaling workshop invites you to pause the dating drama and turn your attention inward. Through a series of thought-provoking writing prompts and reflective practices, we’ll explore your deeper needs and desires in a relationship, what you’re willing to accept, where you tend to abandon yourself when you’re in love, and how to stay strong in your heart…especially when it’s melting.
This session is for both those tangled in the modern-day dating game and those in stable relationships – because it’s never a bad idea to check in with yourself and what truly matters to you, even when your love life seems to be all sorted.
